SINGING star Edward Reid hit a new high as he joined staff at a Renfrewshire shopping mall for a sponsored stair-climbing challenge.

Edward, who found fame by competing on hit TV show Britain’s Got Talent, took on the fundraising task at intu Braehead, Renfrew, in support of SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health).

More than £200 was coined in as the team climbed a total of 16,380 stairs, as well as raising awareness of World Mental Health Day.

Braehead is also running a series of short videos of Edward giving mental health and wellbeing advice on its social media channels this month.

Edward (pictured above) said: “There definitely ain’t no mountain high enough for the big-hearted folks at intu Braehead.

“They put in a fantastic effort to climb all these steps and raise money for a very worthy cause.

“By the time I got to the top of the flight of steps for the umpteenth time, I thought I was on the stairway to heaven.”

Lydia Brown, intu Braehead’s community development manager, added: “It’s important everyone looks after their mental health in the same way we look after our physical health.

“SAMH does a fantastic job in supporting people with mental health problems and raising awareness. Our team wanted to do everything we could to help support the charity with its fundraising and raise awareness about mental health and wellbeing.”
