POLICE are hunting a group of thugs who robbed a taxi driver in Renfrew.

The 48-year-old victim was sitting in his parked cab in Paisley Road when he was approached by three men, all believed to be in their late teens, at around 1.25am on Sunday.

One of the men, described as having an athletic build and wearing a grey tracksuit at the time, demanded money from the driver before assaulting him.

The yobs managed to take a two-figure sum of cash from the victim before making off in the direction of Oxford Road.

Officers said the driver was not injured but was left badly shaken by what happened.

The second suspect was wearing a blue tracksuit, while the third was wearing dark jeans and a blue top.

A police spokesperson said enquiries are ongoing and CCTV footage is currently being reviewed.

Witnesses and anyone else who has information is asked to call officers on 101.
