Fire crews have tackled a blaze at a block of flats in Glasgow.

Part of London Road was sealed off after a member of the public alerted emergency services to a fire at around 6.42pm on Friday.

Four fire engines were dispatched to the scene in the East End, as well as a high-reach appliance, where crews discovered a fire within a 'cavity wall' of a flat on the fourth floor.

No one was injured, and fire crews have confirmed to the Glasgow Times that they have since brought the blaze under control.

Crews remain on the scene to ensure there is no internal fire spread in the building's walls, with personnel using thermal imaging cameras to make sure the fire is down to 'ambient heat'.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service told the Glasgow Times that work is ongoing to ensure the area is safe.
