THE partner and son of Mercy Baguma, the asylum seeker who was tragically found dead at home in her Govan home in August, have been granted asylum in the UK.
Mercy was discovered several days after she passed, when her partner Eric Nnanna raised the alarm upon lifting the letterbox to the property and hearing their son crying.
Their 16-month-old son Adriel was remarkably found malnourished, but alive, in his cot.
The tragedy raised questions over the treatment of asylum seekers by the Home Office and accommodation provider Mears.
Now, the father and son have been given permission to remain in the country, with local MP David Linden stating he is “relieved” to hear the news.
He added: “People were rightly outraged when news broke of Mercy’s passing and I know that the public will warmly welcome this small piece of good news.”
