Two thugs forced their way into a home before seriously assaulting one of its occupants.

The men broke into the Springwell Crescent home in Blantyre around 8.30am on November 2.

A 36-year-old man was hospitalised with a head injury following the incident.

One of the thugs also pushed a 55-year-old woman who was in the house but she was uninjured.

She was left badly shaken by the experience.

Cops are hunting for the two men who have both been described as 6ft tall and of heavy build.

The first suspect was wearing a black woolly tammy hat and a yellow hi-vis vest.

He was wearing orange gloves and was wearing a black scarf across his face to conceal his identity.

The other suspect was wearing dark coloured clothing, bright blue trainers and also covered his face with a scarf.

It is believed a blue-covered SUV vehicle with a black roof was used by the suspects.

Detective Constable Andrew Fearnside said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen the suspects or saw a blue coloured SUV type vehicle in the area to contact us.

"Any small piece of information could help us piece together the circumstances of what has happened.

"In particular, I would ask motorists with dash cams to check their footage as it could contain images which could assist our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to call CID officers at Cambuslang via 101, quoting incident number 0525 of November 2.
