A MAN has been arrested after thousands of pounds worth of drugs were seized in Renfrew.
Officers on patrol at around 11.05am on Wednesday noticed two men pushing a trolley filled with four bin bags at Muir Street car park.
On further investigation, it was reportedly found that the black bags contained cannabis plants.
Police apprehended one of the men but the other suspect fled the scene.
It is claimed one of the bags contained 1kg of cannabis bud, with an estimated street value of around £5,000, while the other three bags contained cannabis plants at an early stage of maturity.
A 52-year-old man has been charged with drug supply offences and enquiries to trace the second suspect are ongoing.
Inspector Allan O’Hare, head of community policing for Renfrewshire, said: "Please call us on 101 if you have information about the other man."
