A pensioner is fighting for his life after he was hit by a car while crossing a road in Hamilton.

The man, aged 90, was using a three-wheeled walker to cross Leechlee Road, near Brandon Street when the crash took place.

The man was struck by a red Ford Kuga travelling north around 9.25am on Friday. 

Emergency services took the 90-year-old to Queen Elizabeth University hospital.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old woman driving the Ford Kuga was not injured. 

 Constable Gemma Blackadder, Motherwell Road Policing Unit, said:"Although police have spoken to a number of people who assisted at the scene yesterday, we are still keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who may has dash-cam footage from the street at the time.
