POLICE are appealing for information after a thief tried to steal a van in Bishopton.
The attempted theft, involving a white Ford Transit, is believed to have taken place in Stuart Road, where the vehicle had been securely parked, sometime between 9am on Wednesday, November 11, and 2pm on Friday, November 13.
Police said they were alerted by the 46-year-old owner after he discovered the plastic casing beneath the steering wheel was lying on the floor of the van and the ignition barrel was missing.
Despite the thief gaining entry to the van, there were no other signs of damage to the vehicle.
Inspector Allan O'Hare, head of community policing for Renfrewshire, said: "We are appealing for information from any witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage in the area at that time."
Anyone who can help the police with their investigation is asked to call officers on 101.
