A DOG owner has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal after her pet attacked a policeman in Johnstone.

Officers who went to Spateston Road on another matter at around 3.25pm on Friday recognised the pooch, which was not wearing a muzzle, as required under the dog's control conditions.

When police challenged the owner, the dog jumped up at one of the officers and bit him on the upper thigh.

He was taken by colleagues to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley, where he received antibiotics and treatment for puncture wounds.

Police said a 25-year-old woman has been charged under the Control of Dogs Act.
