A WOMAN allegedly spat at police officers following a disturbance in Johnstone.

The 37-year-old suspect contacted the police about a cut she had suffered to her hand in Ettrick Terrace at around 12.15am today.

When officers arrived at the scene, they reportedly discovered that her injury was a result of her assaulting a neighbour with a pair of scissors.

It is claimed the suspect then started spitting at them and made racist comments.

She was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley, before being held in custody for alleged police assault and racial breach of the peace.

A 52-year-old man was also arrested by police in Ettrick Terrace for reportedly breaching his domestic bail conditions.

Police said a neighbour suffered superficial injuries to his stomach, arm and ear but did not need hospital treatment.

The man who was taken into custody is due to appear in Paisley Sheriff Court today and the woman is due to appear at a later date.
