A COMMUNITY pantry project is brightening up the lives of villagers through a Christmas advent trail.

EBI Unite – a community food provision group for Erskine, Bishopton and Inchinnan – organised the free event, which is running throughout December.

Residents can use an interactive map from the group’s new website to search for a variety of festive displays around the local area.

Jacqui Reid, project lead at EBI Unite, hopes the trail will boost community spirit during lockdown.

She told The Gazette: “We obviously don’t have the Christmas lights switch-on and similar events this year, so we thought this would offer a wee bit of fun for families.

“Some of the advent windows have been set up to be like a life-size version in people’s gardens, while other residents have decorated their windows at home.

“We have 48 windows across Erskine and Bishopton for families to find and you can visit each in whatever order you please.

“There is also the opportunity to vote online for your favourite advent window, as each has a number so that people know which window they’re voting for.

“All the votes will be entered into a prize draw and the winner will receive £50 worth of Smyths Toys vouchers.”

Villagers also have the chance to win a prize if they successfully spot EBI Unite’s Christmas elf in their area.
