A CHILD was taken to hospital on Saturday after suffering a fractured skull in a road accident in Renfrew.
Police said the 11-year-old girl was knocked unconscious when she was hit by a taxi after running on to Sandy Road from behind a parked van at around 4.15pm.
An off-duty doctor who lives nearby was able to help until the emergency services arrived at the scene.
It is understood the girl regained consciousness in the back of the ambulance as she was being taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley.
Police said no charges will be pressed in connection with the incident.
