POLICE have issued an appeal for witnesses as they investigate a reported shooting in Renfrewshire.

The incident happened at around 1.30am this morning in the Glencoats Drive area of Paisley, where it is thought a firearm was discharged at a property.

No-one was injured but "extensive enquiries" are ongoing.

Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the area, as well as carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross, of Paisley CID, said: “While our enquiries are at an early stage, it is believed that there was a potential firearm discharged.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact police.

“I would also ask anyone who has private CCTV to check the footage for anything of significance which may assist our enquiries. If you were driving in the area and your car is equipped with a dashcam, I would also ask you to check the footage.

“Patrols will be carried out by uniformed officers in the area to provide reassurance while we continue with our investigation.”
