A MAN has been charged with various road traffic offences and resisting arrest in Johnstone.
Police stopped the driver of a blue Ford Focus in Clifton Terrace at around 5pm on Sunday as part of a routine check.
When officers approached the vehicle, the 28-year-old man reportedly attempted to flee the scene but was quickly apprehended.
It is claimed the suspect continued to struggle with cops and tried to strike one of them.
More officers were brought in to help and the man was eventually taken into custody after he allegedly failed a roadside drugs test.
Police said further enquiries revealed the suspect had taken the car without permission from its owner.
He was due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday.
