TWO worthy causes in Renfrewshire have been handed a welcome windfall.
Cheques for £3,600 were presented to St Vincent’s Hospice, in Howwood, and Accord Hospice, in Paisley, courtesy of Woodside Crematorium.
The funds were generated through the Paisley crematorium’s metal recycling scheme.
With permission from families, the scheme sees materials such as coffin fixtures and medical screws being reclaimed from cremators.
Katrina Johnston, manager at Woodside Crematorium, said: “We would like to thank all the families who have given their permission to take part in this scheme.
“We hope they take comfort from the fact the funds raised will leave a lasting legacy and make a real difference to local causes.”
