COLCHESTER hairdressers proved top of the crops after reaching the finals of a prestigious awards competition.

ID Hairdressing, in Priory Walk, was nominated in five categories - best salon, best customer experience, best new or refurbished salon, best colour salon and best colour team - at the 2020 Salon Awards.

The regional results have just been announced, having been postponed from last year because of the pandemic.

ID Hairdressing did not make it through to the national finals but were still thrilled to be regional finalists.

Director Ian Duggan said: "It's great recognition and a reward for the hard work and dedication of our team.

"Doing so well definitely boosted staff morale in what was otherwise a very peculiar year.

"We were absolutely thrilled to get so far, in just our second year of being open.

"To have achieved this recognition at such an early stage in our business is a huge achievement."

The Salon Awards focus on improving standards, rewarding individuals and showcasing professionalism in the hair and beauty industry.

Mr Duggan added: "Taking part has given us recognition and industry credentials, as well as building client trust and boosting team morale."

ID Hairdressers recently hit the headlines in the Gazette after staff delivered food packages to the needy of Colchester.

They put a message on social media saying they wanted to help and their post reached nearly 11,000 people.

Selfless staff dipped into their own pockets to supply the goodies and they are now being delivered to homes throughout the community.
