JEWELLERY and other valuables worth thousands of pounds have been stolen during a break-in at an elderly man's home in Johnstone.
Police are appealing for information about the incident, which took place in Rankine Place sometime between 6.30am and 2.10pm on Friday.
When the 65-year-old victim returned home from a hospital appointment, he discovered his front door was open and the house key from his key safe was missing.

Among the jewellery taken during the raid were gold chains, bracelets and rings. The thief also swiped an electric shaver, an ASUS laptop and Victorian coins, with the haul thought to be worth around £3,000 overall.
Inspector Allan O’Hare, head of community policing for Renfrewshire, said: "Please get in touch if you have seen anybody acting suspiciously in the area."
Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call officers on 101.
