POLICE are appealing for witnesses following two separate incidents of wilful fireraising over the weekend.

The first incident took place in the common close of a property in Elderslie's Main Road at around 10.10pm on Saturday.

Four appliances from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and extinguished the flames.

Then, at around 1.15pm on Sunday, the emergency services rushed to Johnstone's High Street, where they found an unoccupied flat ablaze.
