A WOMAN has been charged with serious assault following a disturbance in Linwood.

The 33-year-old suspect reportedly attacked a 25-year-old woman in Abernethy Drive at around 8.50am on Sunday after a heated argument.

Police said she was arrested nearby and the younger woman was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley, where she received four stitches to an injury to her ear.

It is claimed the wound, which is expected to leave scarring, was caused by an assault with an unknown weapon, which officers have not yet been able to find.

The suspect was released on an undertaking and is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court at a later date.
