MULTIPLE lockdown gatherings were detected in Renfrewshire over the weekend.

Police were called to a property in Castle Gait, Paisley, at around 5.15am on Saturday, where three men – all aged 18 – were issued with Covid tickets.

Officers then found a party of four people in Portsoy, Erskine, at around 9.35am on Sunday, with one ticket issued to a 19-year-old man.

Later that day, at around 5.30pm, seven people were dispersed by police in Houston after being found in breach of Covid regulations in Houstonfield Quadrant.

Anyone who flouts the ban on indoor gatherings during lockdown can expect to receive a Covid ticket that will cost them £60.

The fine rises to £120 for a second ticket, £240 for a third and £480 for a fourth.

Depending on the circumstances, the offender could also face a charge of culpable and reckless conduct.
