Average property prices in Renfrewshire have soared by almost £11,000 in the space of a year, latest figures reveal.
Those buying a home in the local area in November 2020 could expect to fork out £133,496 – an increase of 8.8% from the same month in 2019.
The rise in property values in Renfrewshire was marginally bigger than that experienced across Scotland as a whole, where there was a 8.6% increase to a new average price of £165,703.
According to the UK House Price Index, which is calculated by the Office for National Statistics, the City of Edinburgh remains the most expensive place in Scotland to buy a home, with house-hunters having to splash out an average of £287,239.
In East Lothian, the average price was £252,964, with East Renfrewshire third on the list at £244,950.
The cheapest council area in which to purchase a home was East Ayrshire, where buyers could expect to pay an average of £110,073.
Despite this, East Ayrshire recorded the biggest increase in average house prices over the year, rising by 15.6%.
However, the property boom didn’t reach Aberdeen, which experienced a drop of 3.4% – the worst performance of any council area in Scotland.
A spokesperson for the Office for National Statistics said: “In Scotland, terraced houses showed the biggest increase out of all property types, rising by 10% in the year to November 2020 to £140,000.”
“The smallest average house price change of all property types was in flats and maisonettes, up by 6.8% in the year to November 2020 to £117,000.”
Latest figures also show the number of house sales in Renfrewshire went up from 300 in September 2019 to 371 in September last year.
