A TEENAGER has been arrested after a Renfrew woman allegedly spotted him vandalising her car in the middle of the night.
The 39-year-old woman reportedly heard loud banging noises outside her North Lodge Road home at around 11.30pm on Saturday and saw two strangers standing next to her vehicle.
It is claimed that the 16-year-old suspect was kicking her car and damaged one of the wing mirrors.
Police said that, in the moments that followed, the teenage began shouting abuse at the woman and appeared to be brandishing a knife in his hand.
Officers quickly traced two individuals nearby and searched each of them.
The 16-year-old suspect was allegedly found with a bronze-handled knife in his trouser pocket and taken into custody. The second person was not charged.
A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
