CORONAVIRUS has claimed another 20 lives in Renfrewshire, latest figures show.

According to the National Records of Scotland, the fatalities took place in the week ending February 14 and bring the total death toll in Renfrewshire since the pandemic began to 458.

Only four other council areas had a higher number of deaths last week, with 50 recorded in Glasgow, 33 in South Lanarkshire, 32 in North Lanarkshire and 22 in Falkirk.

The figures include all fatalities registered where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate and, as this includes suspected or probable cases, it differs from the lab-confirmed coronavirus deaths announced daily by the Scottish Government.
