A JOHNSTONE woman has changed the life of a four-month-old puppy who could no longer be cared for by her original owners.

Lauren Hill has been able to provide a permanent home for Margot, who came into the care of Dogs Trust Glasgow just before Christmas last year.

The lurcher-cross puppy had been bought as a Christmas gift but the new owner was not able to care for her.

Thankfully, Dogs Trust Glasgow was able to quickly find a new home for Margot.

Lauren told The Gazette: “My partner Steven and I had been hoping to get a dog, as our home had been very quiet after our cat sadly passed away a few months ago.

“I had been continually looking to Dogs Trust for a suitable dog to adopt when, one day, I recognised Margot, as I know the individual who fostered her.

“I immediately spoke to Steven and we agreed she would be a terrific addition to our family.

“Margot settled in straight away and, as soon as we were home, she was on the couch, making herself at home.

“She is such a sweet girl, who loves to play and cuddle.

“Margot absolutely loves her food and instantly becomes the world’s best-behaved dog in the kitchen because she knows that is where the treats live.

“She loves doggy peanut butter and carrots.

“One thing that always makes us laugh is that Margot has taken to spying at us through the bannister gaps and we often see her head popping out of the gaps while we are on the couch underneath.

“She has brought so much happiness into our lives in such a brief time and we couldn’t imagine life without her.”

Sandra Downie, manager at Dogs Trust Glasgow, said:  “It is so wonderful to know Margot has found her forever home, along with many other dogs that we have been able to change the tale for, thanks to people like the Hill family choosing to adopt.

“When people take on the responsibilities of dog ownership, they do so with the best intentions to care for them long-term but, as the calls to Dogs Trust show, in these extraordinary times circumstances can change in a heartbeat, leaving owners with incredibly tough decisions to make.”

Together with the support of the public, Dogs Trust is working to ‘change the tale’ for more dogs like Margot.
