WORK is underway to repair a faulty cable after hundreds of Renfrew residents were left without electricity yesterday.

Around 680 people were affected by the power outage, which lasted for just under 45 minutes until Scottish Power engineers put a temporary fix in place to restore supplies.

Works to complete a full repair are now underway, with traffic management measures in place in Paisley Road to ensure the works can be carried out safely.

A spokesperson for SP Energy Networks said: "We expect these measures to remain in place until midweek while we complete the repairs and restore the road surface.

"We're sorry for any inconvenience caused by the outage and the subsequent repair works and thank all those affected for their patience and cooperation."
