A man was assaulted at Johnstone Railway Station on Friday evening. 

The incident which took place around 7.15pm has seen the victim hospitalised.

After being struck on the back of his head, the man fell and hit his head on the pavement resulting in significant head injures.

British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The suspect is described as a white male with short dark hair, around 5ft 6ins tall. 

At the time he was wearing a Fila jumper with white writing, red cuffs and white stripes down the arms, and white tracksuit bottoms. The suspect also had a black bag.
