A MAN has been arrested in connection with an alleged robbery bid at a shop in Renfrew.

Police said the suspect entered the Co-op store, in Paisley Road, and approached the till area at around 9.30pm on Monday.

It is claimed he threatened a 20-year-old employee with violence and demanded money.

However, the suspect reportedly fled the scene empty-handed.

A 33-year-old man was arrested by police yesterday morning and is due in court at a later date.
