A PRIMARY school in Johnstone has been linked to Covid-19 cases as contact tracing gets underway.

Bosses at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) confirmed a Test and Protect team is establishing a list of close contacts linked to Fordbank Primary.

Those identified as close contacts have been advised to self-isolate at home as a precaution.

A spokesperson for NHSGGC said: "Test and Protect is carrying out contact tracing of Covid-19 cases linked to Fordbank Primary School in Renfrewshire.

"To respect and maintain patient confidentiality, no further details will be released, however we can confirm that those identified so far as cases or contacts have been advised to self-isolate.

"We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to adhere rigorously to the general advice and requirements that are set out on NHS Inform and Scottish Government websites, including immediately self-isolating and seeking a test upon developing any symptoms."

This latest investigation follows Covid-19 cases being linked to Riverbrae School, in Linwood, last week.

All children in P4-7 will go back to school on a full-time basis from Monday, while a phased return of secondary school pupils will take place between this date and the Easter break, before full-time schooling returns after the holidays.

Yesterday, it was also confirmed that more people in Renfrewshire will be able to socialise outdoors.

From Friday, up to four adults from two households will be able to meet locally in any outdoor space, including in private gardens, for social and recreational purposes, as well as exercise.

Outdoor non-contact sports and group exercise will also resume for adults in groups of up to to 15 from Friday.
