A TEENAGER has been charged after a group of youths vandalised a shelter at Johnstone train station.
Three youngsters were seen on CCTV footage smashing 13 of the shelter's windows at around 11pm last night.
The suspects had fled by the time police arrived at the scene but a 14-year-old boy was traced by officers in Park Road a short time later.
While being arrested, he allegedly struggled with officers and tried to headbutt one of them.
He was then taken home, where he was charged with vandalism, police assault and resisting arrest.
A report will be sent to the Children's Panel.
British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed enquiries to trace the other youths involved are ongoing.
A spokesperson said: "British Transport Police were called to Johnstone railway station at 11.03pm yesterday following reports of vandalism to a station waiting room.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 405 040, quoting reference 545 of 11/03/21.
"Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
