A TEENAGER reportedly tried to spit on a police officer’s face before he was arrested in Linwood.
Officers were called to Erskinefauld Road at around 10.40pm on Sunday after a member of the public reported a disturbance.
It is claimed an 18-year-old man became hostile towards police and started shouting abuse.
Police said the suspect then spat in the direction of an officer’s face.
The teenager allegedly struggled with officers when they tried to arrest him and he was eventually taken into custody.
He has been charged with police assault, resisting arrest and breach of the peace.
No-one was injured during the incident and the suspect is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.
