A FORMER teacher who was jailed for molesting two girls in the 1970s and 1980s has admitted other historic sex offences.

William Wright, 80, is already serving a four-year prison term for his sickening crimes.

Now the pervert has pleaded guilty to another three offences dating back to the 1980s.
Wright, from Elderslie, committed those crimes while teaching music at a secondary school in East Renfrewshire.

He went on trial at Paisley Sheriff Court last week after initially denying the charges against him but changed his plea after one of his victims gave evidence.

Wright admitted three charges in relation to the abuse, which took place during his time at Eastwood High School.

He used lewd and libidinous practices towards a pupil on dates between August 1985 and February 1986. This involved grabbing the girl and pulling her bra, making lewd and indecent comments to her, following her into a cupboard and putting the lights off before pressing his private parts against her, as well as touching her breasts and putting his fingers inside her bra.

Wright also licked her face, pulled down her pants, made her touch his private parts over his clothes and touched her private parts.

He further admitted targeting the same pupil on dates between August 1985 and February 1986, when he made indecent comments and again followed her into a cupboard before pulling down his trousers and exposing himself to her, as well as compelling her to touch his private parts.

A third charge admitted by Wright stated that he abused another young girl on dates between August 1985 and June 1988 by touching her on the body and grabbing and pulling her bra, as well as trying to kiss her.

His not guilty pleas to three charges relating to two other alleged victims were accepted.

Wright, who was previously seen as a respectable member of the community and played the organ at Elderslie Kirk, was remanded back to HMP Saughton, where he is serving his jail term.

Sheriff Tom McCartney called for background reports and deferred sentence until Friday, May 14.

Wright was previously convicted at the High Court in Glasgow in 2018 for sexually abusing pupils at Eastwood High on dates between August 1974 and June 1981.

His victims were tracked down after police opened an investigation into the pervert’s activities.

Wright had denied any wrongdoing but jurors convicted him of two charges of using lewd and libidinous practices and behaviour, as well as a charge of indecent assault.

One victim told the court how he put his fingers into her shirt and underwear.

He also abused her while she sat at the piano and a further attack was carried out on her in a cupboard.

She told jurors: “I was terrified of him.”
