POLICE have pledged to crack down on groups of unruly youths who have been gathering near a Howwood bowling club.
Officers have been called out to a number of recent incidents involving youngsters who are responsible for anti-social behaviour at Midton Bowling Club, in Old Howwood Road.
A police spokesperson said: “On a number of occasions, there has been in excess of 40 youths, with fires lit and rubbish discarded.”
Officers stepped up patrols in the area over the weekend to discourage any further anti-social behaviour.
They have also stressed that current lockdown restrictions prevent people from gathering in large numbers and have asked parents to make sure their children are aware of the rules.
The spokesperson added: “Covid restrictions are still in place regarding the number of people who can gather and we are asking parents and carers to remind their young people of the current guidelines.”
No-one at Midton Bowling Club was available for comment.
Anyone who has information about anti-social behaviour taking place in Howwood or other locations across Renfrewshire is asked to contact the police via 101.
