A PENSIONER was taken to hospital on Sunday night after a house fire in Linwood.

The 73-year-old man was rescued by a crew from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) after smoke was seen billowing from a property in Hart Street at around 9.40pm.

He was rushed by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley, where he was treated for minor injuries.

Police said the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A SFRS spokesperson said: “Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances to the scene and firefighters assisted in the removal of a man from the building and transferred him into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“Crews extinguished the fire and left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
