A CYCLIST has suffered serious injuries after colliding with a parked car in Bishopton.

The 50-year-old man had been cycling along Greenock Road at around 5.30pm on Tuesday when the driver of a Volkswagen Golf allegedly failed to spot him while turning into a junction.

The cyclist had to take evasive action, which led to him crashing into a parked vehicle.

Police said the 47-year-old driver is suspected of having been under the influence of an illegal substance and was arrested at the scene.

Witnesses and anyone else who has information are asked to call officers on 101, quoting incident number 2572 of April 20.
