POLICE have seized hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of drugs after raiding a house in Johnstone.

Officers swooped on the property in John Lang Street on Thursday morning as part of an intelligence-led operation.

During the search, police recovered "significant" quantities of heroin, cocaine and herbal cannabis.

The drugs are believed to have a combined street value of around £273,000.

Police said a 27-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with drugs offences.

Detective Sergeant David McIntosh, of Paisley CID, said: "Drugs have absolutely no place in our community, and as a result of this operation, a significant quantity has been taken off the streets.

"Officers are out working every day to identify those seeking to supply drugs in the area and put a stop to this harmful activity.

"Support from members of the public is absolutely vital to this work and we would continue to encourage people to engage with us and pass on any relevant information.

The suspect is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
