POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a fire was deliberately started outside a Renfrewshire tearoom.

The incident took place next to Bites 'n' Pieces, in Arkleston Road, Paisley, at around 12.20am this morning.

A crew from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was able to put out the flames before anyone was injured.

Police said the front door and shutters of the tearoom were damaged and have confirmed the incident is being treated as wilful fireraising.

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information or dashcam footage of the area around the time of the incident is asked to contact police on 101.
