A TEENAGER has been charged with racial breach of the peace following a disturbance in Johnstone.

Police were called to Quarry Street at around 5.20pm on Sunday after receiving a report of someone being racially abusive to a 22-year-old Asian man.

A 16-year-old suspect was traced nearby and reportedly started shouting abuse at officers.

He was taken into custody by police but later released on an undertaking.
