POLICE are hunting a thug who attacked a bus driver in Renfrew.
The yob assaulted his 31-year-old victim on a McGill's bus which had stopped in Inchinnan Road at around 5.50pm on Saturday, after they had been involved in a heated argument.
Police said the attacker got on the bus at Braehead and started to verbally abuse the driver.
After the bus reached Inchinnan Road, he punched the protective screen at the driver's cab and got off before going back to punch him on the arm.
Police said the driver did not need hospital treatment.
His attacker is described as 5ft 11ins tall and is believed to be in his early 30s.
A spokesperson for McGill's described the assault as a "reprehensible incident."
They added: "Our staff should be able to undertake their duties without suffering verbal or physical abuse and we are working closely with police to offer any assistance we can to identify the perpetrator."
Inspector Damian Kane, head of community policing for Renfrewshire, said enquiries are ongoing and footage from CCTV cameras is being reviewed.
He added: "We are asking any witnesses to please get in touch with us, especially if they were on the bus and saw the suspect."
Anyone who has information should call officers on 101.
