AN investigation has been launched after a fire was deliberately started outside a Renfrewshire nursery.

The incident took place at Hillview Nursery, in Backstoun Road, Paisley, at around 8.45pm on Friday.

Police said tyres from the nursery's play area were moved and placed underneath a large storage container before being set alight.

The fire caused extensive damage to the container and the contents inside, which included children's bikes.
