The 28-year old victim was found by officers who were called to a disturbance in Clarence Street, Paisley, at around 1am this morning.

The incident is being treated as a serious assault and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Constable Dougie Macfarlane, from Paisley CID, said: "Thankfully, the man did not require any extensive treatment, but this is an incident that could quite easily have turned much more serious.

"I am appealing for anyone in the Clarence Street or Seedhill area of Paisley, who may have seen anything suspicious in the early hours of this morning, to please come forward.
