POLICE have seized hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of drugs after raiding a house in Renfrewshire.

Officers armed with a search warrant swooped on a property in the Foxbar area of Paisley at around 5.55pm on Wednesday.

It is claimed that more than 500,000 Etizolam tablets, with an estimated street value of £250,000, was recovered during the search.

Police said a 45-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross said: "This is a significant recovery and our communities are safer having these drugs out of circulation.

"They cannot be sold and they cannot bring harm and misery to people's lives. This was a pre-planned operation and shows our determination to combat drug abuse.

"I would urge anyone with information about drugs in their community to contact police and be assured that action will be taken."

Police said the suspect is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Friday.
