POLICE are hunting a thug who attacked a man in a Renfrewshire street.
The 42-year-old victim was assaulted with a weapon in West Buchanan Place, Paisley, between 1am and 3am this morning.
He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley, for treatment to his injuries before being released.
The man who attacked the victim was wearing all black clothing at the time.
Police are treating the incident as a serious assault and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Detective Constable Ashley O'Neill, of Paisley CID, said: "Thankfully the man's injuries were not life threatening, but this has been a terrifying incident.
"Anyone who was in the area at time of the incident or who has any knowledge of the assault can contact us via 101, quoting reference number 0366 of June 10.
"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
