A MAN has been charged with police assault and resisting arrest in Renfrew.
The 54-year-old suspect was reported to officers by members of the public following a disturbance near licensed premises in Hairst Street at around 9.10pm last night.
When police arrived at the scene, it is claimed the man seized hold of an officer and began to struggle with him.
The suspect was eventually restrained and taken into custody.
He was later released and is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court at a later date.
