A MAN has been charged with a number of offences after an alleged abduction in Johnstone.
Police were called to Graham Street at around 4.30pm on Thursday following reports of a man being held against his will within a property.
When officers arrived at the scene, a 21-year-old man with serious facial injuries was found nearby.
He had reportedly escaped from a building where he had been held hostage.
The injured man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley, for treatment.
Police said that, after further enquiries were carried out, officers went to a property in Paisley later that day, where a 27-year-old suspect was found.
It is claimed the man was brandishing a weapon and became aggressive.
Police, who wouldn't confirm the type of weapon involved in the alleged incident, said the suspect then became violent and tried to attack officers as they tried to arrest him.
He was eventually restrained, with the officers involved suffering no injuries, and taken into custody.
The suspect was charged with abduction, serious assault, police assault, resisting arrest and breach of the peace.
Police said he was due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.
