RENFREWSHIRE motorists are facing several nights of lane closures next week due to drainage investigations on the M8.

The work will be carried out by Amey at junction 27 (Arkleston) which will require the closure of the westbound and eastbound carriageway overnight.

The westbound closures will take place from Monday, July 26 until Wednesday, July 28, while the eastbound closures take place between Wednesday, July 28 until Saturday, July 31.

All work is to take place between 8pm and 6am, with diversions in operation.
Eastbound traffic will be directed to exit the M8 at Junction 29 St James Interchange and travel on the A726 through Paisley, and via Renfrew Road through Gallowhill on the A741.

From here, vehicles will continue through Renfrew South to Junction 26 via High Street and A8 Glasgow Road to re-join the eastbound M8.

The westbound diversion will follow the same route in the opposite direction.

The drainage investigations carried out will inform future schemes designed to prevent flooding issues on the M8.
