FIREFIGHTERS battled a large blaze at a former nursery building in Johnstone this evening.
Emergency services rushed to the old Spateston pre-five centre in Walpole Place at around 5.35pm.
Three appliances from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) extinguished the flames before anyone was injured.
Police said enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Dramatic images shared with The Gazette show thick smoke billowing into the air as firefighters tackled the blaze.
A police spokesperson said: "We received a report of a fire at a premises on Walpole Place, Johnstone, at around 5.35pm.
"No-one was injured and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Enquiries are ongoing."
A SFRS spokesperson added: "We received a phone call at 5.21pm this evening for an incident at Walpole Place in Johnstone.
"There was a fire at a building in this street and we mobilised three appliances to the incident, which has now been dealt with."
