A MAN with a van has won a prestigious award for offering his services free of charge to Renfrewshire veterans in need of support.

Hayden Grant, 25, has been named New Service Leaver of the Year in the annual Scottish Ex-Forces in Business Awards.

Since the start of the Covid pandemic, the founder of house-moving company HJG Removals has helped deliver donations on behalf of local charities.

Former Linwood High pupil Hayden told The Gazette: “I’m proud I was nominated for this award and I didn’t expect to win.

“The awards ceremony in Glasgow was an enjoyable night, especially after being in lockdown for so long.

“I’ve got vans from my house-moving company, so when veterans really need furniture or anything else picked up, I carry out the deliveries free of charge.”

Hayden established HJG Removals in 2019, after serving six years in the Army, and has been highly praised by Renfrewshire customers who have used the service.
