A MAJOR Southside road will reopen for COP26, delaying water works that have been going on for months.
Corkerhill Road has been closed from its junction with Mosspark Boulevard to its junction with Mosspark Drive since July 21 and had been due to continue for 14 weeks to mid-October.
Now Scottish Water, which is carrying out major works on underground pipes, have announced the road will be filled in and reopened from October 1 to comply with the council's ban on road works for the international climate conference hosted in the city this November.
The organisation said it expected to return to the site in "early January" but said a definite date would be confirmed later.
The new mains will connect the Glasgow area’s water network and the system in Ayrshire to increase resilience and protect supplies for about one million customers.
