GLASGOW has been revealed to have the thriftiest residents in Scotland, according to a new study.

The research, which analysed local Google search data to find out where the highest number of searches for terms like ‘upcycling’, ‘ikea hacks’, and ‘recycled furniture’, found the city to be the fifth thriftiest place in the UK.

The study, conducted by The Hairpin Leg Company, found that Glasgow outranked both Edinburgh and Aberdeen.

The two cities came in at 34th and 12th place, respectively.

The company, which makes hairpin table legs, wanted to find out where sustainable living was the most popular and where the most waste-conscious people lived in the UK.

Its method analysed the number of impressions each search term had in each location using Google’s local Keyword Planner tool.

The percentage of residents this accounted for was then calculated by using the most recent ONS population data for each area.
