POLICE are appealing for witnesses following three incidents of wilful fireraising in Renfrewshire.

Crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to Cullen and Rashieburn, both in Erskine, at around 5.35pm on Tuesday.

Firefighters found litter and wheelie bins ablaze but managed to extinguish the flames.

Then, at around 6.45pm, the emergency services were sent to Greenend Avenue, in Johnstone, where similar small fires had been started deliberately.

It is understood that no-one was injured at any of the incidents but police have confirmed all three are being treated as wilful fireraising.

Sergeant Jason Cooper, based at Johnstone police station, said: "We would ask residents to remain vigilant and also move their wheelie bins back to their properties once they have been emptied."

Anyone with information is asked to call officers on 101.
